"Tiny" is a little Red necked pademelon, he came in after being found in his dead mothers pouch, he was very cold and unresponsive when he first arrived, but responded very fast, after being warmed up and rehydrated.

We were lucky, if you can call it that, a little female of the same species arrived a few days after "Tiny" not lucky for the little one to have had the misfortune to loose her mum at such an early age, but for both of them to be able to grow up together. Within the first 24 hours, "Tiny" managed to hop into the little females" substitute pouch, and the two of them has thrived in each others company.

They are now in the release pen, and will be released shortly back into the wild where they belong. The little female was a great security guared whilst in the nursery pen, she would make loud thumping noices with her back feet every time something she was notfamiliar with, was too close to the pen. Pademelons are known to stomp their feet in alarm when disturbed.

UPDATE: Tiny and Tot was released together, they came back to the release site for some time for support food, then they dissapeared into the forest.

It is wonderful to have the opportunity to follow the progress of released animals. The female "Tot" have raised her first joey seen here still in the safety of Mums pouch.
