This
little Red Neck wallaby came in
late at night, after her mum was hit on the road and killed
by a car. The two young men involved brought the body of the
mother
with them for identification, which made it very easy. It can
sometimes be a little bit hard to figure out at first exactly
what specie it is when they are this small.
She
only weighed 135gram, her eyes were closed and her ear canals
not yet open, too small to endure the separation from her mother.
She died shortly after being brought in. One may wonders it
worth bringing one so little in to care", the answer as
far as I am concerned must in all cases be YES!!.
The
reason being that firstly it is not left to try and fend of
the ants that are very fast to move into the pouch, one can
only imagine what they must go through whilst slowly being eaten
alive.
Second
reason is they can be fed and kept warm, this must be preferable
to the alternative. Also it can be very hard for someone not
familiar with this specie of animal to ascertain what is able
to survive and what is not.
Some
are very small and do make it through, stages of development
happen fast, and depending on species some are more developed
and able to survive, even though at first sight you would think
the opposite.
